I was recently sent something very exciting from Amacai UK to try – some of their frozen açaí pulp! Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock and ignoring the clean-eating superfood movement, you might have noticed açaí smoothie bowls have certainly been flooding Instagram feeds and the little berries have become rather popular.
Amacai UK bring açaí berries straight from the Amazon to your front door in their purest form – thick and pureed with no extras! I’ve tried açaí before but only in powder form so I was very excited to try it in my smoothie bowls, and it didn’t disappoint! Its fruity, nutty and creamy all at the same time….and paired with avocado and banana its absolutely heavenly!
Açaí is a delicious deep purple berry that grows on palm trees in the Amazon. It’s often credited for giving the people in the Amazon their strength and energy and keeping them healthy. Some studies show that açaí fruit pulp is even richer in antioxidants than cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, or blueberries. It is rich in essential fatty acids, reduces cholesterol, and boosts energy. What a powerful berry!
1 frozen Amacai açaí pulp pouch,
1/2 frozen banana,
1 cup almond milk (I used Rude Health Almond Drink).
Toppings: I used home-made Cacao Pecan Granola, frozen blueberries, and banana, but you can use whatever you fancy.
Remove plastic cover from your frozen açaí. I chopped mine into chunks using a sharp knife so that its easier for my blender but if you have a high-powdered blender (i.e. a Vitamix) then you could put it in whole. Add the chunks to your blender along with everything else. Blend until smooth. Pour into your favourite bowl, add your toppings and enjoy 🙂
